K-Electric Appoints Syed Taha as New CEO

Syed-Taha

KARACHI: K-Electric has appointed Syed Taha as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), replacing interim head Adeeb Ahmad, the company announced in a notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange on Monday.

According to the notice, Taha will formally assume charge on April 15, 2026. He currently serves as Managing Director and CEO of Pakistan State Oil, a position he has held since February 2020.

Taha brings extensive experience in the energy sector, having previously worked as Executive Director at Oasis Energy, where he led the Program Management Office for Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company in Nigeria. He has also served as Chief Distribution Officer at K-Electric and held senior roles across multiple organisations.

His professional background includes key positions at Shell Pakistan and Caltex Pakistan (a Chevron company), along with experience in the steel sector.

Taha’s appointment follows recent leadership changes at K-Electric after former CEO Moonis Alvi stepped down in February. Subsequently, Adeeb Ahmad was appointed as interim CEO to oversee operations during the transition.

The move signals a strategic leadership shift at Karachi’s sole power utility as it navigates ongoing challenges in the energy sector and seeks to strengthen operational performance and service delivery.
